The village name means 'farm/settlement' with a brook. It was in 1220 the manor was held by Thomas de Estle, Estle transpired into Astley to separate it from other places named Broughton.

Broughton Astley has grown over the years and has a great community spirit, holding events throughout the year, including party in the park, Christmas fayre, Santa dash and Dawdle.
